Lavender Baby Powder

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons organic lavender flowers
8 drops lavender essential oil or extract
1/2 cup white clay (also called kaolin or cosmetic clay)
1/4 cup corn starch

Directions:
With a clean mortar and pestle, crush the lavender seeds. Mix the clay and corn starch in a bowl. Drop the drops of essential oil into the dry ingredients and mix well with a fork. Add the lavender seeds and stir. Put into a shaker bottle or mason jar for storage. Sprinkle on baby’s bum to keep it fresh smelling and dry.

Notes:
1. You can use more or less of each ingredient to your liking – the more corn starch you use, the harder it is to shake it out of a shaker bottle.
2. I’ve read that corn starch can “feed” a yeast rash, so if your baby has one, eliminate the corn starch. You could replace it with arrowroot powder or even a little baking soda!
3. I plan on experimenting with other essential oils (I’d remove the lavender flowers, then). Mint, orange, geranium…
